Quotations From
Everything
"If you hear something you like, feel no scruple.
Take it and copy
it."
-Anatole France
I have been collecting quotations since fifth grade. I remember the
first time- my micro-economics teach had a list of 'rules for life'
on her classroom door, which happened to be right beside my seat, so
I started looking at them, and then I started laughing, because they
were great. I wrote them down on my folder. Shortly thereafter, I
started finding more quotations from various sources, and soon had
filled up that folder and a couple others, completely covering the
outside with quotations. That's still my favorite way to store quotes,
I think, though the folders begin, before very long, to fall apart.
I like to be able to have them somewhere that anyone can see and where i
I can always write down another, since I almost always have a folder
within reach. For years I collected them, from books, mostly, though
also from one or two movies, and, in the past year, I've started
finding them on the internet as well, in huge quantities. Basically
I'll take anything that makes me laugh or anything that strikes me as
very true. Some of these do neither of those two things, but most do.
One of the
things that I find amusing is the fact that I have a fair number that
I haven't found on anybody else's list. So you might well see a few
here that you haven't seen before. Anyway, although this is by no
means my full list (it's maybe a fifth of all that I've collected) it's
still long enough that I thought dividing it into categories might not
be a bad idea. So I did.
At long last- the quotes are up!!!
- Quotes that strike me as cynical
or disillusioned, which is not to say that I don't agree with them.
- Quotes about anger, war, courage, heros, all that good stuff.
- Quotes that show a rather unique point of view.
- Quotes on or relating to love, friendship, relationships, lust, or anything else that I felt
fell in with those.
- Quotes that just seemed to strike a bit of a home point, just seemd true to dome degree or another.
- A rather good (I think) list of insults and putdowns.
- A rather bad set of quotes on religion (if
you're extremely religious and take that religion very seriously, you
probably will not enjoy these. Just a warning.)
- There's also rules to live by.
- And, of course, there's the all-important list of
whatever's left
- Last but not least, we have quotations that probably could have been
fit into one of the other categories (miscellaneous, if no other)
except that they're all long. I
think I went with defining long as five or more lines, though several
of them are quite a bit over that.
Enjoy them all or, if you're done enjoying them or never really
wanted to enjoy them in the first place, go back to the
main page.
